Marriott Announces Widespread Breach

11/30/2018

As announced in a Washington Post article earlier today, Marriott International, one of the largest hotel chains in the world, revealed that its Starwood reservations database had been hacked and that the personal information of up to 500 million guests could have been stolen.

The data breach involved information mined from the database for Starwood properties, which include Marriott, Sheraton, Westin and St. Regis hotels, among others. An unauthorized party had accessed the database since 2014, company officials said.

You can view the full Washington Post article at https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2018/11/30/marriott-discloses-massive-data-breach-impacting-million-guests/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.b048f93fe596. You can also visit the information site set up by Marriott at info.starwood.com.

American 1 is actively monitoring the situation and how it may affect our members. However, if you are concerned that your card may have been breached, you may call any branch to receive a free replacement card.
