Text Message Scams on the Rise

8/15/2022

Smishing (text message) scams are on the rise, and we’ve heard from many members that received a text message claiming there is something wrong with one of their accounts (financial institution, Amazon, etc.). Do not respond to these messages or click on any links.

Additionally, we will never ask you for your PIN, access code, or other sensitive information through text or email.

We recommend reporting suspicious text messages to your mobile service provider and the Federal Communications Commission. To learn more, check out this article from the Michigan Department of Attorney General.
