Ajeera Phillips is the new American 1 Teen Idol Champion!

On Friday, July 8, a crowd of over 1,000 fans cheered as 10 talented teens from all over southern Michigan took to the stage at the Jackson County Fairground grandstands to compete for the title of 2011 Teen Idol Champion, a $2,000 savings bond, and a new laptop computer. The competition was fierce and judges Kim Hastings, Matt Walch, and Brad Flory had a difficult time selecting the winners of this year's event. Here's how the results stacked up:

Runner-up - Austin Lyon
3rd Place - Jason Cross
4th Place - KayLyn Pace
5th Place - Ally McNeil
First Round Contestants - Tony Smith, Alexandria Altwies, Ashley Bertl, Mia Anderson, and DeQuan Perry, Jr.

Ajeera is not only the youngest Teen Idol winner ever, but the first to come from Battle Creek. She performed "Earth Song" by Michael Jackson, "God Bless America," and "Price Tag" by Jessie J.

All contestants took home a savings bond worth at least $50 and a prize package. Contestants were required to raise money for charity to participate in the competition; $2,000 was donated to Jackson School of the Arts and an additional $590 will be donated to Ajeera's charity of choice - American Red Cross of Battle Creek.
